Teach Me to Worship is our Sunday morning summer program for students in entering kindergarten — 3rd grade in the fall. We encourage our families to go to worship together at 10 a.m., and then children are given the opportunity to go to Teach Me to Worship during the offering (at about 10:20).
Our younger class for rising kindergarten and first graders meets in room A104. Our older class for rising second and third graders meets in room A105.
Teach Me to Worship classes are designed to train children in worshiping God—explaining what we do and why—all while actually engaging in worship. During the 2019 summer months, children are learning about three different elements of worship: Hearing the Word, the Sacraments, and the Benediction. We spend time each Sunday memorizing Scripture, rehearsing catechism questions and answers, and learning about familiar worship songs and their meanings. (You’ll be hearing those songs in the sanctuary as well!)
Each class is led by two adult leaders. These volunteers serve one month per quarter.
Check out our hallway bulletin board outside the Children’s Ministries office for information on our classes and pictures of our volunteers so that your child might quickly identify his or her leaders. You’ll also find information about our theme and song for the month.
Planning to have your child attend Teach Me to Worship for the first time? Fill out our guest information form ahead of time and avoid having to complete the paper version on Sunday morning at the check in table.
